Strength Training Tips
Building muscle and maintaining it is very important for long term success in managing your weight. It is important to remember that muscle burns calories continuously so adding even a few pounds of muscle mass can increase your metabolism drastically and make a big difference as far as helping you to lose fat more easily. Many people do not realize the importance of weight training and just focus on diet and aerobic exercise however if you are struggling with your weight then be sure to pay close attention to it.
Train heavy but not too often:
You do not need to spend hours and hours in the gym lifting weights in order to be successful, in fact for most people a simple 30 minute session done once every week or even once every two weeks can be enough. Focus on the major exercises that target the big muscles of the body like the chest and the thighs. A good upper body exercise is the bench press while a good lower body exercise is the leg press or squat.
Be careful not to spend too much time in the gym as this can lead to over training so be sure to take enough rest between workouts, the general rule is that the more weight you lift the more rest you will need. With weight training less is often more so make sure to give yourself enough breaks. Click here to learn more on how to lose weight quickly.
